Online Poker Freerolls – Friend or Foe?

March 6, 2009

When poker players join up to online poker rooms the majority of them head start to the game lobby and check out the line up of tournaments that they are going to try their hand in.

If asked which was more attractive, a tournament with a $100 buy in or a freeroll offering up to $10,000 prize pools, there is obviously one of the answers that is going to appear most…

Freeroll.

Looking at Online Poker Freerolls, many see these as an opportunity to face up against others, with the intent to reach the final table and ultimately take the 1st place without any investment.

What they think is correct, they are a great way to plump up the bankroll but what alot of players forget is that thats exactly what all the other players online are thinking, including the new players who regard ace/king in such a high regard that they are going to call your all in as the flop hits 5, J, 7.

Freerolls are a great way to invest only time into a poker game in the bid to win a fair stack to invest back into the online game.

These types of tournaments aren’t ‘all good’ due to their appeal to bad players, or in cases that we have seen good players playing badly. With all in’s on most starting tables before the flop with jack,10 off suit etc.

In most cases, winners of the freeroll tournaments are average players, people who can play but need that element of lady luck shining on them as they enter into their biggest pot of the tournament…

Don’t get us wrong, freerolls are a definate must for online poker rooms, as they try to compete to become the biggest and wealthiest within the gaming community.

thatsGambling staff have played a fair few freerolls, placing in some and others showing that sometimes worse players fail to be beaten.

Do you play freerolls? How often do you look for their registering? Any freeroll stories to tell us?

March 4, 2009

With the ever increasing demand for online poker rooms, a new generation of poker room entered the online gaming world.

PKR entered the scene with a huge amount of expectation due to the release of videos and images while the software was in development.

PKR takes the standard software that is used on most sites and stretches out the frame work to near breaking point, then adds more!!

Offers 3D experience

Now that the software is live and running on their website, players have been moving over to the poker room to get a sample of the development, which offers players the opportunity to play poker in 3D!

Where most poker rooms allow users to see avators at the table and deal the cards face up for the player concerned, PKR has enhanced the gaming experience with the ability to view the cards as you would in a ring game with your friends!

Other features within the poker room allow players to perform poker chip tricks at the table, such as bouncing a chip onto your stack or the famous finger roll!

What more could a player want?

For the trick to be seen! As the player conducts the trick, all other players seated at the table can see exactly what your doing!

We have even got a PKR bonus code for you to use!

Gus Hansen Taught A Lesson on Poker Playing

March 1, 2009

We have all done it, sat and watched the professionals play on Full Tilt Poker.

One internet poker player took that watching further, stumping up the cash to enter into a head to head with Gus Hansen on ‘Pot Limit’ Omaha table with blinds of $500/$1000.

Haseeb Queshi, AKA ‘Internet Pokers’, sat at the table and butted horns with one of the best known poker players at the present time.

As the two played they managed to offer 13 of the biggest pots on the site with 11 of them taking the top 11 places in the list of 25 accounted.

Hansen is a known gambler and is no stranger to ‘testing the waters’ with high level bets, most games meaning you are going to either win or lose well into the $100,000′s, as long as you can bankroll the game.

Many players feel blessed just sitting on the table while Hansen does his thing, but Queshi took that a whole lot further.

By the end of the battle between the professional and the internet player, Hansen had lost almost $300,000.

Just goes to show that even sometimes professionals make rash calls and the cards don’t always fall to the ‘best’ player.

We at thatsGambling would like to congratulate ‘INTERNET POKERS’ on his success.

What are your reactions to this story?

You butted heads with anyone famous and come away better off?

To read more about the game that cost Hansen $300,000 and to see some videos of game play visit Poker Listings.
