World Poker Tour World Championship Day 1 Part A

April 19, 2009

WPT World Championships Part AThe WPT World Championship is often thought to be one of the biggest tournaments of the poker tournament calender.

This year featured the same breakdown as the original tournament featured, breaking the starting day into 2 days, part A and part B.

Part A started today, featuring a disappointing 126 players entering the tournaments buy in. It is thought that part B will feature more players than its earlier part, but still participation numbers are expected to be well below last years turn out.

Although there was a disappointing number of players who turned out, the deck dealt out some hands that made the excitement surrounding the felts alot more intense.

There was a straight flush and a set over set dealt out today, with crushing blows been dealt to players all day.

The straight flush fell to Andy Bloch, taking down a huge 185,000 chip pot, with his final re-raise of a ‘all in ‘ call left his opponent so sure that he was beaten that he folded leaving him with only 17,000 chips.

On the ‘fold’ call Andy Bloch let his opponent know that he had done the right thing, turning over 2/3 diamonds, which sat into the community cards offering Bloch one of the best hands possible.

Many others saw their treasured hands fall to better hands with a number of pocket aces been over turned by its lower counterparts and sets been beaten by stronger sets.

The might have been a small turn out for the tournament but the drama was not to have been missed!
