Remember that more advanced players are more likely to know the ins and outs of the game and so will be more likely to stand on their hand when faced with the likes of 17 than a novice who is more than 80% more likely to want to hit and look to get a card lower than the value of 5.
Although you aren’t playing against the players around you, their play will directly influence yours due to them taking a share of the cards from the same deck of cards that you are playing from, use that to your advantage rather than seeing it as a down side.
